A major U.S.-based designer and manufacturer of pet products had been using BioThane® coated webbing for its popular line of dog collars for several years. As the company grew, it looked for ways to lower costs and identified a webbing manufacturer overseas that claimed it could make a coated webbing product that looked like BioThane® but cost less.
After a few years of manufacturing the new product and selling it to end users, the company discovered the collars made overseas were not nearly as durable as dog collars made with BioThane® coated webbing.
“The canine collars made overseas simply did not hold up like dog collars made with BioThane®,” says a company representative. “When the collars got wet, the coating came right off. Our customers were complaining. We never had to worry about that when we used BioThane®, so we switched back.”
The dog collars made with durable, waterproof and cleanable BioThane® performed much better and the manufacturer now uses BioThane® coated webbing exclusively.
