As 2016 comes to a close, it’s time to start planning what you’ll do to improve in 2017. However, New Year’s Resolutions don’t have to be done alone. A resolution partner can make your goals more attainable, especially if that partner is your dog.

Sure human partners can help, but dogs are much more adorable. They can help keep you motivated to achieve your desired results and they won’t judge you during the process. That’s some grade-A support. Plus, these New Year’s Resolutions can help your dog as well! That’s like hitting two birds with one stone, except with fewer birds and less violence. Here are some goals that you and your dog can work for in 2017.

Lose Weight

After some hefty holiday food portions, it may be time to think about shedding a few extra pounds. That can go for your dog as well. Now, we’re not expecting your dog to pump iron or anything like that, but a few small steps can help you go a long way. In fact, many of them can really help!

Walking can help with that and it’s a hobby your dog may love. If you want to start small, start off by going down the block and coming back. You can always add distance as you and your dog get used to your walks.

Develop Better Habits

Bad habits are not just a human thing. Occasional snacking can derail a dog’s diet as well. And just as humans have their vices, canines have their fair share of potential faults.

Misery loves company, especially when it’s furry and adorable, so work to kick a habit while you help your dog kick one as well. That way you can share a knowing glance when your dog refrains from chewing your shoes and you stay away from that pack of cigarettes.

Treat Yourself

Not all resolutions have to be able health and wellness. In fact, some are all about making things great! After a long year, it might be time to start off 2017 with a few treats for you and your dog. That might mean a nice dinner for you and a brand, spanking new dog collar for your pup. If you’re going to treat your dog to a new collar, check out these dog collars made from BioThane and kick off your new year in style.
